Interactive map of the springs and wells around the Malvern Hills

In January, we received an email from Gareth Smith. Gareth is a Malvern resident and is working voluntarily to compile a set of interactive maps covering various aspects of Malvern’s history, architecture, geography, geology and natural history. He recently completed 2 maps: a compendium of house histories by Paul Ferris, and a map of blue and green plaques from the Civic Society. He came across our list of springs and wells on the website and thought it would make a great addition to the map atlas. You can see the list of springs here.

He has asked for the MSA’s permission to continue with this work. He said, “We have had a great response to the current maps, with over 500 visitors to Paul’s house histories map since mid-November (plaques site to be published soon). I think it would be a great way of making your excellent and valuable content more accessible, adding a spatial element and allowing people to locate the sites when ‘out & about’. The map app is free, as is my time. All I would ask for is for you to review and approve the map before I published it.
We discussed, agreed to publish what we have and update as we go, asking community for help. Work in progress but now up and running! You can view the maps here.

The page explains that we are in the process of updating the information and would really appreciate help from the community. If you find errors or can provide information and updates on the state of any of the springs and wells listed here then please let us know. Also if you want to be involved in this and other MSA projects, please contact us.
