Best Selling Author Charlotte Emily Rose reflects on her visit to Malvern
During Malvern’s Well Dressing festival 2026, the town was visited by spring water enthusiast Charlotte Emily Rose. Having uncovered over 100 wells in her home town of Kinsale in Ireland, Charlotte is on a mission to restore spring water to communities world wide. Noticing the undeniable benefits of drinking the spring water from the well she found and restored in her family home’s garden, Charlotte is dedicated to share her findings around the benefits of restoring wells and flowing spring water to physical and mental health and the health of the land. Charlotte has released her findings through words of love, labour and expertise in her book Well-Being by Charlotte Emily Rose, which is now a number 1 best seller in Ireland.
Charlotte was invited to Malvern for the annual Well Dressing Festival by the Malvern Spa Association team. Throughout her visit, she was inspired by the gratitude and celebration of Malvern spring water throughout the town. And in return, Charlotte inspired Malvern’s community (and beyond) with her passion and knowledge of spring water restoration. MSA organised Charlotte to take part in a water blessing ceremony at Malvhina, where she united the water of the Malvern Hills to sacred waters she had visited across the globe alongside a moving prayer. Charlotte also held a captivating led talk, hosted by MSA, delivering stories from pilgrimages and world wide water restorations. The audience left enchanted and inspired to restore flowing springs across Malvern.

Charlotte’s reflections
It was a great honour to be invited to Malvern in early May 2026 by Carly, Rhiannon and the fantastic Malvern Spa Association for the wonderful “Water and Well Dressing Festival”. A very special visit it was for me as the first book launch of my book “Well-Being” was part of the festival. It went on to become a “best seller” in Ireland the following month at the time of the summer solstice of 2026. A book about water and restoring divine flow is certainly living that which it speaks of.
The book tells of our magnificent buried water Heritage and the importance of unearthing that which was blocked and restoring it to divine flow. Malvern was an ideal place to launch the book as over the last few decades WELL over eighty of the springs and wells in the town and surrounding hills have been unearthed with a phenomenal community effort and are being celebrated once again.
All life on Earth physically exists largely as water. We ourselves are wells and vessels of ever-flowing water. Fundamental to our WELLness and WELL-being is the restoration and healing of our wells, within and around.
Our ancestors honoured water as the divine source, knowing its high consciousness and recognising it as the driving force powering all life on Earth. It has been immensely disempowering and detrimental to the well-being of all life, that we became disconnected from our water heritage and that so much of it was blocked, buried and destroyed.
I have been on a mission to unearth and revive the water heritage of the town in which I live in Southern Ireland. The town was once named “Fan na dTubraid” in Irish, which translates as “Slope of The Wells”. All places were renamed as part of a great repression when the language, people, culture, clans and ancient traditions were forcibly crushed. The wells were blocked up and water became controlled and made a commodity of….as did we.
The wells, which were central to all life in every town and village on Earth and built in various shapes, sizes and locations to serve a vast array of purposes, were the heart of thriving community life and land. They were also a powerful connection point to Mother Earth. Earth and Heart are an anagram as they are one. Our disconnection from the wells and from that conscious daily relationship with water, was an unplugging of our hearts. We were removed from our power source and divine flow was blocked.
My book speaks of water heritage throughout Earth and weaves rich mythology around water through it along with quotes from revered texts from around the world about water. The work of Dr Masaru Emoto features in the book and his former personal assistant wrote the foreword. He did so much in recent decades to remind us of the consciousness of water and the importance of honouring it. The second half of my book then details Kinsale’s unearthed wells, of which there are 100 so far. It explores the array of purposes each was built to serve and this gives fascinating insights into the way of life of our ancestors who consciously lived their lives around water as “divine” and knew themselves to be one with the divine in the great ocean of all life.
I was fascinated to visit so many wells of Malvern during the festival and witness the beauty of the community effort to dress and celebrate 48 of them.
Going forward and as the next stage of reviving Malvern’s rich water heritage, it would be so wonderful to see all the wells and water features which are dressed for the festival, flowing again with water. Only 1 in 5 of the wells and water features dressed have flowing water at the moment. The majority of the wells are still blocked and closed over and the water pumps are all disconnected.
The Rose Bank Garden well was unearthed in 2010 and is beautifully dressed each year, but it remains blocked and covered over. The rose is the flower of The Divine Mother, associated with the living waters of all life. It has the highest frequency found in nature and resonates the heart.
The winner of the well dressing competition in 2026 was “Stock’s Drinking Fountain” with a magnificent hand knitted rising Phoenix adorning it. The drinking fountain was once fed from the spring well which lies buried behind a wall behind the stocks the fountain has been named after. In “the takeover” maximum trauma was often embedded by the sacred water wells and the stocks being positioned by this well is a very typical situation. To see that well unearthed and restored and the fountain flowing again would be very healing and the phoenix rising from the ashes. The returned flow will bring the restored flight.
The Malvhina statue by Rose Garrard has ever flowing water pouring through the centre of the triple spiral triskele she holds. This water feature is fed by three water sources which is very fitting and these are; Rushy Valley, Happy Valley and Ivy Scar Rock. The triskele is symbolic of the divine design and flow of all life; Maiden, Mother, Crone – Birth, Life, Death – Divine Masculine, Divine Feminine, Divine Child and so on. It is also the symbol of Heddeka, which is the element of water. She holds a powerful reminder for Malvern and for us all.
Charlotte’s Unity Water ceremony at Malvhina, Belle Vue Island, during Malvern’s Well Dressing Festival
I stayed at the lovely Malvern Hills Hotel whilst there which is at the foot of the ancient water feature named “British Camp” in recent centuries. This is a HIS-story overlay on the ancient sacred water HER-itage that hill is. The vast rings were once filled with ever flowing spring water and this spiraling vortexed and energised the water which fed into many of the wells and accross the land, optimising the well-being of all life in the area. There is a similar structure in Clones in Co. Monaghan in Ireland. The springs feeding the spiralling troughs were most likely detonated by the heavy quarrying around it. I had a sunrise swim in a quarry by it as it is filled with glorious spring water and has formed a spring lake there.
The hotel at the hills foot once had a spring fed pool, one of so many in Malvern. These were all blocked up. It seems very hard now to get any bottles of Malvern Water, once so famous for its curative properties. Ironically in a town brimming with pure spring water, tap water is all that is freely available and it so heavily chlorinated that I could not drink it. The same applies in most towns on Earth now.
It’s so vital to unearth and celebrate our water heritage and restore the wells and springs to flow in every town and village on Earth. This will restore divine flow and return all life to optimal WELL-BEING.
Such immense gratitude to The Malvern Spa association for all they have done to unearth, restore, protect, revive and celebrate the rich water heritage surrounding them.
WELL done Malvern for leading the way and may we all follow. I so look forward to celebrating the rising of the water once again and the flight of the 2026 festival’s winning phoenix.
