A Report on May Day 2023
This year’s May Day weekend was one of the best we can remember! The events and festivals were very well-attended, with visitors coming from all around the world. The feedback has been fantastic.
Well-dressed Kings and Queens
This year, the chosen theme for well-dressing was Kings and Queens. As expected, we had a wonderful range of interpretations.
A total of 57 water features were dressed by schools, groups, and individuals, and incredibly, almost 1000 people of all ages took part in the dressing process!
It involves many months of really hard work, so our heartfelt thanks to all of you who helped to make May Day so special.
The standard of entries was very high. A gold medal and the Lionel Shorestone Award went to Madresfield Early Years Centre for their lovely dressing at North Malvern Tap. Another gold (yet again!) went to Thomas Gardiner’s descendants (Gardiner’s Common Spring). See the full list of prize-winners below.
